William H. Bacher v Byantha Clapper Bacher (Journal 12 p202 - 4 Jan 1884; p233 - 7 Mar 1884; p434 - 22 Dec 1884; Roll 39 Box 135 case number 1193 - 17 Aug 1883)
By Pamela Pattison Lash (updated 2010)
The couple was married on 12 Oct 1870, Wooster, Wayne Co, OH (Marriage V7 p438). William H. Bacher was the son of William and Susan Roakey Bacher of Wayne Co, OH. Brown Cemetery in Center Twp, Wms Co, OH housed the remains of the parents with William's death on 3 Oct 1875 @63Y 10M 8D and Susanna's demise on 21 Dec 1887 @69Y 10M 20D.
William charged that Byantha was not fit to have custody of their daughter Jennie J, b 10 Jan 1875. He said that Byantha was a resident of Wooster and had committed adultery with unknown men; she was guilty of gross neglect. The case was continued, then dismissed, and then refiled with a newspaper notice of divorce in the Bryan Press, 26 Oct 1883. Byantha may have remarried as there was a record of a wedding for Byantha Clapper and Jacob Flickinger on 1 June 1884, Wayne Co, OH (Marriage V10 p226). The same may be true for William H Bacher, as there was a record of marriage for him and Ella Jones, 29 Jan 1884, Steuben Co, IN. Nothing further is known.
