Our Vice-President of WCGS, Pat Goebel, wrote the following for local researchers that she's allowing me to post here. The Williams County Genealogical Society is made up of volunteers who give of their time and talent to research and preserve local records.

The February meeting of the Williams County Genealogical Society was held in the computer lab of the West Annex of the Bryan Public Library. Marti Richie and Pam Lash shared techniques to use when you want to copy an article about your ancestor that you found on the Internet into a file on your computer. They taught you how to create a file, cut, copy, paste or save material into that file and how to move the file. Practical experiences were used to familiarize yourself with these techniques on your own computer and a handout was given so participants could continue at home.
The next meeting will be held March 14, 2011 at the Williams County Courthouse. Be at the West entrance of the courthouse by 6:30 pm. Patsy Mealer will introduce us to the Recorders Office layout and how they can help you locate where your ancestors lived in the county. An elevator is available if needed.
The purpose of WCGS is the preservation of county records and family research. Monthly meetings are held on the second Monday of each month, excluding July and August, in the conference room of the West Annex of the Bryan Public Library. The public is invited to all the meetings.
