WCGS Meeting - April Lock-In Recap, May Meeting and June Banquet Info

My friend Pat has several pieces of info to pass along concerning past and future programs of the Williams County Genealogical Society.  Here's what she has to report:

By Pat Goebel, WCGS VP

The Williams County Genealogical Society met on Friday, April 8 for a lock-in at the Bryan Public Library Annex.  Researchers showed up to gather information on local ancestors, browse through the many books from counties in Ohio and other states or they could choose to use the internet to gather information from around the world. Pizza was served for supper along with treats brought in by other members.  All enjoyed a rewarding research time.

The next meeting will be held on Monday May 9, 2011 with Rev. Dale Kern portraying Adam Detzer, who was a Circuit Rider Preacher for the German Lutheran Church in northwestern Ohio. Beginning in 1845, Rev. Detzer did establish congregations in Fulton, Williams, Henry and Defiance Counties. The public is invited to join Rev. Detzer at 6:30 pm in the Harmon Room of the Annex to the Bryan Public Library, Bryan, Ohio.

Reminder about the Banquet on June 13, 2011 at 6:30 pm to be held at Rita’s of the Square. The Guest Speaker will be Roger Lash with “Trash or Treasure” program. Recognition of WCGS Officers and First Families of Williams County Recipients will be honored. There will be door prizes and lots of fun. Dinner will be banquet style, all you can eat.
