Our Co-VP, Pat Goebel, sent along this recap of our last meeting for the season. Here's her report:
The Williams County genealogical Society held their Twenty-Eight Annual Banquet at Rita’s on the Square, Bryan, Oh on Monday, June 13, 2011. Delicious food, great entertainment, meeting the newest First Families members and conversations with friends were enjoyed.
Kim Smith presented the new inductees into the First Families of Williams County bring the total number of families since 1981 to 195. Kim also shared many interesting facts about the inductee’s ancestors. 2 inductees even found out they had family connections. The new inductees are: Betty Ring (Garrison, Ayres, and Aldridge), Kristina Daugherty (Haines, Lowe, Watersion, Barrett and Settlemayor), Stanley Wayne Smith, Gary Lee Smith, Maratha Jill Smith, Mary Jayne Smith (Colgan, Haller, Kimble and Eutzler) and Mary Alice Roth (Colgan and Haller). They each were presented a certificate and pin.
Roger Lash, from Angola, IN, was guest speaker. He revealed the results of our “trash” or “treasurer” items. As always, he delighted, educated and entertained us while revealing our prized possession as a “trash” or “treasurer”. Items ranged from as small as a decorative pin to items as large as a scooter.
Pam Lash, President, presented the board members with a personally created gift. The board then gave her a gift certificate to purchases books for her new Kindle. Door prizes were given out and a raffle winner for an Atlas of Williams County was presented.
The next meeting won’t be until September. Have a great summer and keep researching.
