WCGS Meeting - February 2012 and Upcoming March Meeting

The Williams County Genealogical Society met Monday, February 13, 2012 for the last Monday Night at the Movies with a showing of PBS “Forgotten Ellis Island”.  The DVD told the story of immigrants who came to American for a better life.  Most made it into the US and only a few were deported.  350 babies were born there and 3,500 immigrants died. Many who were sick, received treatment and either entered American or were deported back home.

After the DVD, a lovely lady from Napoleon shared her story of her visit to the museum on the island.  She had pictures and a copy of document showing when her father entered America through Ellis Island.

The next meeting will be Monday, March 12, 2012 at 6:30pm in the West Annex of the Bryan Public Library.  This will be a work evening.  The public is invited to come and ask questions, seek advice on how to get started with their own genealogy or get help with your First Families application and research.

The purpose of WCGS is the preservation of county records and family research.  Monthly meetings are held on the second Monday of each month, excluding July and August, at 6:30pm, in the conference room of the West Annex of the Bryan Public Library. The public is invited for all the meetings.
