Our WCGS VP, Pat Goebel, sent this along to anyone who is interested in our meetings. Here's what she has to report:
The Williams County Genealogical Society met for May at the West Annex of the WCPL in Bryan, Ohio. The guest speaker for the evening was James N. Jackson from Battle Creek, MI. Mr. Jackson gave a power point presentation on how to plan a productive summer/genealogy vacation. The main point on any genealogy trip is to plan ahead. Always research where you are going and what you might find before going to your destination. Check out websites to help you find directions to where you plan to research. Check for hours and days your destination is open. If you make good plans before you leave, you will have a productive genealogy vacation.
Our Twenty-Ninth Annual Banquet will be on MONDAY, June 18, 2012 at 6:30 pm at the Banquet Room of the Moose Lodge in Bryan, Ohio. First Families will be honored and the board members will be presented. Our guest speaker for the evening will be Rev. Dale Kern as George Winter, a pioneer painter of the Pottawatomie and Miami Indians of Northwest Ohio. The menu for the evening buffet will be roasted chicken, roast beef, real mashed potatoes, corn, salad bowl, homemade bread, cherry or apple cobbler, water, ice tea or coffee for $13 per person. To make reservations you may either send a check to Jane Kelly at PO Box 293, Bryan, OH 43506 or see Jane at the West Annex of the Bryan Library by Thursday, June 14, 2012.
