There was a continuance and then a divorce was granted based on John's abusive behavior. On 31 Jan 1888 he hit Minerva and forced her from their residence. Their daughter Anna M. Cook is past the age of majority. Later there was a change made in the amount of alimony he had to pay.

Sometime between 1888 and 1900 Minerva Cook and her daughter Anna M moved back to Knox Co, OH. Note Minerva is identified in the 1900 census as a widow, but John W Cook is still alive. This in my opinion is why looking at the divorce records is vital in understanding the family dynamics.
