Williams County, Ohio Early Wills - Alexander McClure #2

By Pamela Pattison Lash

The parent county of Williams County, Ohio was Darke County.  If one looks at the sources for the timeline of this family, one will see the ever present Darke County named.  This was the second will in the collection of early wills for Williams County, but strictly speaking the resources were found elsewhere and the participants did not appear to ever live within the confines of present day Williams County.

Alexander’s father was a Revolutionary War soldier. This McClure family appears to have traveled to Woodford Co, KY and in 1812 moved again to Darke Co, OH. In Samuel McClure’s will (1818) he mentioned wife, Rosannah, and son Alexander, who is of age but still lives with parents – he gets management of the farm in Darke Co, OH until he marries and other land.
