WCGS Meeting Info - Jan 2013 and the Upcoming Feb 2013

By Pamela Pattison Lash

Co-VP Pat Goebel has an information on our last meeting and upcoming events.  Here's what she has to say:

The Williams County Genealogical Society met January 14, 2013 at the West Annex of the Bryan Public Library.  Marty Richie, the society’s webmaster, took participants though the Family Search free website, showing where records of Williams County could be found as well as many other records across the United States and the world. Helpful handouts were given to those attending to continue their research at home.

The next meeting will be Monday, February, 11, 2013, at 6:30 pm in the West Annex of the Bryan Public Library, Bryan, OH.  The speaker will be Pam Lash, President of the society, talking about how to set up a blog and the advantages of a blog.  You MUST pre-register at 419-636-6734, WCPL- LHG, Jane Kelly. Bring your own working device (laptop, I-Pad, etc.).

Announcement: The June banquet’s theme is “Trash or Treasure”. The guest speaker, Roger Lash, has requested pictures and descriptions of the articles before the banquet.  Start looking around the house or barn for items that might be old. Please no firearms, furniture or war relics. Take a picture of your item and attach a form. The form can be picked up at the WCPL-LHG department. If you need help with a picture, bring your item to a meeting, as someone will help you. All forms and pictures must be turned in by the April 8, 2013 meeting.

The purpose of WCGS is the preservation of county records and family research.  Monthly meetings are held on the second Monday of each month, excluding July and August, at 6:30pm, in the conference room of the West Annex of the Bryan Public Library. The public is invited for all the meetings.

For further information concerning WCGS, visit the Website at www.wcgs-ogs.com or write to WCGS, P.O. Box 293, Bryan Ohio 43506.
