Here's information on our May WCGS general meeting and our End-of-the-Year Banquet from Pat Goebel, Co-VP:
On Monday, May 13, 2013, The Williams County Genealogical Society met in the Harmon Room in the West Annex of the Bryan Public Library. Mary Alice Roth was the guest speaker. She shared how scrapbooking lead her into genealogy. She’s making a heritage scrapbook for each of her four children. She showed how the facts and pictures you might already have could be put into generational order. Then, you can enhance the pages with color, layering, stamping, paper tearing, punched edges and corners and or stickers. Most of all don’t forget to add the stories you can tell about your ancestors. Last but not least, she had each person finish decorating a page to help them get started on their own scrapbook, which they took with them when they left.
The next meeting is June 17, 2013, at 6:30pm at the Moose Lodge Banquet Room, North Main Street, Bryan, OH. The WCGS will be celebrating its 30th Anniversary. The guest speaker is Roger Lash, Trash to Treasure. He will share what he learned about the “treasures” we sent to him for appraisal. First Families of Williams County will be recognized. Reservations are to be made by calling Jane Kelly at the Williams County Public Library by Wednesday, June 12, 2013.
The purpose of WCGS is the preservation of county records and family research. Monthly meetings are held on the second Monday of each month, excluding July and August, at 6:30pm, in the conference room of the West Annex of the Bryan Public Library.
