I know this is an old post, but I just ran ...Wow!! I know this is an old post, but I just ran across it. That's a LOT of good details. How'd you get on to looking at Mattesons anyhow? I've just now (after 17 years!) definitely connected my wife's Mattesons to Alden/Oldin/Aldin (whatever) and Lydia/Lyddia. Their son Alden/Aldin/Allen Matteson/Mattison married Cornelia Buchanan, and I couldn't find them on the 1860 census until seeing the 1860 Brady census where they are listed as Matterson (I just never ran across that particular misspelling for them). I notice in your land records they are referred to as Mattison.
