William Bear v Rachael A. Stewart Bear (Journal 9 p47 - Nov 1876; Roll 30 case number 3 - Nov 1876) - see Clarissa J. Meads Bair v William H. Bair
By Pamela Pattison Lash (updated 2010)
The couple was married in Bryan, Wms Co, OH on 23 Jul 1870 (Marriage V4 p123). No other information was included in the file, except that William wanted this divorce because wife Rachael had been willfully absent for more than three years. According to the 1870 Bryan federal census, p23, Alexander Stewart 58 PA carpenter had a Rachel 24 OH living with him. In the 1880 Bryan federal census, Alexander Stewart was listed as 61 PA with daughter Rachel Stewart 30 OH divorced. It could be that this William Bear is the same William H. Bair from the previous cited divorce case, but this has not been confirmed todate. If this is so, William H. Bear married Mary D. Hopkins in Wms Co on 7 Oct 1877 (Marriages V4 p537) and the couple lived closeby to the Stewarts in the 1880 Bryan federal census as William Bair 42 OH, Mary 36 CAN, Oliver no data OH, and border Jehiel Bair 39 OH divorced.
