The couple was married in Amboy Twp, Hillsdale Co, MI on 27 Feb 1875 (Lib E p173). Mary was born in 1849 Hillsdale, MI, and David was born in 1847 Ohio. Mary charged David with bigamy as he had a former wife, Jennie McMillen, to whom he was legally married. He abandoned Mary and his last known residence was Pioneer, OH. She wanted a divorce and the restoration of her maiden name. A legal notice ran in the Bryan Press. A Mary E. Spaulding married Judson A. Rose on 13 July 1879 in Amboy Twp, Hillsdale Co, MI; Judson was the son of Luther M and Amanda Eaton Rose. Both parties were Michigan natives, born in 1849. The couple was enumerated in the 1880 Hillsdale, Hillsdale Co, MI federal census p116 as Judson A. Rose 31 MI-NY-NY washing machine maker, Mary E 31 MI-PA-X, Bernice 7 MI-MI-MI, and Forest R 5 MI-MI-MI.
