Peter Laubaugh v Ann Maria Harris Laubaugh (Journal 5 p405/535 - 4 June 1859; Roll 13 case number 18 - May 1859) – see Leichty (when posted)

The couple was married in Ashland Co, OH on 6 Feb 1851. Peter, born on 10 Mar 1831 in Lower Mt. Bethel, Northampton Co, PA, was the son of George and Sarah Poff Laubaugh. Ann Maria was a resident of Charlotte, Eaton Co, MI at the time of the proceedings. Peter claimed that on 25 Feb 1857 she committed adultery with Morris or Martin Canan at John Burchell's home in Bryan. He called several witnesses to substantiate his claim, John Burchell and his wife, John Kaufman, and David Kelso. The couple had no children. The divorce was granted.
Peter married Wilhelmina Almira Bohney in Wms Co on 21 Oct 1860 (Marriage V3 p137). Almira. b 20 Nov 1829 pos Lancaster Co, PA, was the daughter of Nicholas and Christiana Bohney. From the 1860 Bryan, Pulaski Twp federal census, p71, Peter 29 PA day laborer lived with the William Bamia family. In the 1870 Bryan federal census, p2, the family was enumerated as Peter 39 PA, Wilhelmina 34 PA, Christena 8 OH, Martha 5 OH, and Luella 3 OH.
According to the Williams Co, OH Directory, 1877, Peter Laubaugh was the proprietor of a restaurant onn the southeast corner of the courthouse square in 1877. In Dec 1879 Peter got into a fight with Thomas Lawson. Peter did not escape unscratched as chairs and fists flew. There was a woman involved in this fray. (Bryan Democrat, 11 Dec 1879). On 19 Feb 1880 Peter Laubaugh was fined $15 for selling liquor from his home. The family moved to Coloma, MI c1886; on 23 Sept 1894 @64Y 5M 22D Peter died of dropsy of the heart at Coloma, MI, and was buried in a local Coloma cemetery. Wilhelmina Almira Laubaugh died in Toledo. Lucas Co, OH, on 19 Apr 1909 and was buried in the Fountain Grove Cemetery in Bryan.
