Maria Starr Haviland v Isaiah/Josiah Haviland (Journal 6 p78 - 5 Dec 1860; Roll 12 case number 30 - Nov 1858)

The couple was married in Paulding Co, OH on 15 Feb 1850. The records for that county have been searched but no such marriage has been found to date. Maria stated that she received $100 from her husband. She took out a restraining order so he could not take her possessions in Center Twp, Wms Co, OH; he had sold their home to Mary H. Lewis. On 15 Apr 1857 he abandoned her. On 5 Oct 1855 he purchased property in Center Twp belonging to Henry and Lydia Walker. Maria wanted her portion of this property and a reasonable alimony of $1,000. She also charged him with adultery. She produced the following witnesses: AR Bowlby, John and William Mattocks, Thomas M. Starr, and William Wannemaker. Nothing further is known as to the outcome of this divorce action.
